Istanbul History & Diversity (all day)
Our day begins at the Hagia Sophia, the world-famous masterpiece that has stood for over a thousand years. Explore its breathtaking architecture and religious art whilst you reflect on the legacies of civilizations past.
Next, we board a ferry and enjoy lunch as we sail between two continents, taking in the stunning Istanbul sights along the way.
Upon arriving at the lively Balat district, we explore its rich history as a sanctuary for the Jewish community, welcomed to the Ottoman capital by Sultan Bayezid II during the 15th century Spanish Inquisition.
We’ll visit the Ottoman-era Church of St. Stephen, famously known as the "Iron Church" for its prefabricated cast-iron elements, and then continue to the Church of St. George, home to a relic believed to be from the cross of the crucifixion.
As our journey comes to an end, we soak in the multicultural charm of Balat’s streets before your transfer back to the hotel.
